Braces
21/06/07; afternoon
went to the doctor. he checked and said i needed to extract 2 teeth to put the braces. after that i went to x-ray my teeth. i had to bite this plastic thing for the first station and had two things put into my ears at the second. then the doctor took pictures of my teeth (embarrassing!) and made a mold of my teeth. it looked like bouncy yellow plasticine. disgusting. then the doctor put separators between my teeth to make gaps for the braces. my sister can’t stop admiring her own.

told some people about me going to put braces. they’re stunned.
and my teeth are starting to hurt. /: i can’t chew my dinner so i could only eat the noodles and leave the chewy meat and squid.
is this how old people live, eating soft food only?
this is torturous. my mum refuses to let me skip eating my supplements so i have to chew them with my front teeth because i can’t swallow tablets. 3 chlorophylls, 2 vitamin Cs, 1 iron, 1 calcium, 1 cod liver oil, 1 vitamin B and an orange tablet called Revicon Forte (i had trouble biting it, it’s the hardest tablet because the outer is like a M&M). total 10 tablets.

went to do ipw today and ate claypot rice. and delayed candy, jiayee and joycelyn (sorry). i managed to swallow everything except the mushroom. i keep wondering how my stomach is going to break down the Chinese sausage, chicken, vegetables and rice. hm…
teeth hurts even more! i’m not going for the barbeque nor the dinner (it’s cancelled) tonight. so i’ll be free. NO MORE DILEMMA! (:

went to a dental clinic at Bedok halfway during band for dental appointment. i eztracted my teeth. both are on the top. 14 and 24. first the dentist rubbed something pink stuff onto my gums where she was going to pluck out the teeth and then she went to inject the inside and outside of the gums. it wasn’t painful; just a little prick. then she tested to see if my gums were numb. after that she went to loosen the teeth and pulled them out. didn’t even feel anything. then i had to bite gauze for half an hour to clot the blood. had to swallow saliva and cannot bite food.
it was around half an hour later when the anastetic wore off and it began hurting. fell asleep in the car. woke up to find that i’d dripped saliva onto the seat belt cover. whoops.
all-soft stuff for dinner. i didn’t have to chew at all. beancurd, cod, mushroom, udon, seaweed and soup. the gums aren’t hurting so badly now. hopefully they’ll be okay tomorrow.
oh. i’m gonna see the orthodontist tomorrow too. for the metal rings.

tomorrow (thursday) will officially mark the third week i’ve worn braces. i started on 12 July, the same day Harry Potter 5 was released.

ooh dear. was eating the double chocolate biscuits that Dad just bought from Ikea when one bracket came off. so fun (: i can turn it.

didn’t go for band today. instead went to the orthodontist’s clinic to fix the stuff back. FIRST TIGHTENING! i chose back the same dark blue and Mum and Sis said i’m boring.
18/08/07; late morning
went for SECOND TIGHTENING. changed to bright green (don’t exactly like the colour, so i’ll change it to dark green the next time round). now i have these transparent rubber bands (Sis says so) with the wire at the gaps. they’re for pulling down my front row of teeth (apparently they’re sticking out).
19/08/07; night
i can’t chew anything! teeth hurts like crazy.

there was dental appointment. actually, there was one in september, but i forgot what date. that day, i changed the braces to red. this time i chose dark green.
24/11/07; morning
FIFTH TIGHTENING. when it comes to the end of december, i’d have worn braces for 5 months.
they’re purple now, by the way.
09/03/08; afternoon
the NINTH TIGHTENING! sorry, i lost track of the sixth to eight tightenings. about nine more months to go! and it’s green again.

TWELTH tightening. and it’s black! i got a power chain linking my whole top row of teeth. p-a-i-n-f-u-l!

13TH tightening. and pink! xueling was jumping for joy. anyway since we’re leaving early next year Dr. Cheng suggested we come every 3 weeks. about 5 more tightenings!
27/08/08; afternoon
14th tightening! purplish blue. power chains on top and bottom. i have to put a rubber band connecting my third teeth to the left from the centre on the top and third teeth to the right from the centre on the bottom. the rubber band is called Raspberry. what a weird name. have to put it cos my centre is not in line. painful!

15th tightening. i forgot the colour!
13/10/08; afternoon
16th tightening. -.- i forgot the colour again.

YES! i can take the braces out next month.

BRACES OUT! whoopee. retainers to be collected next week…

Hi, I stumbled upon your site while looking for information about braces. I feel like a metal mouth ( I guess I am one now ) because I just got braces today. Very uncomfortable XD. I was just wondering if it’s hard to play the flute while having braces on. I am a flute player myself and practice starts exactly a week from now. Do you have any advice?

hi i have had my braces on for about 4 months now and i have had to have just normal braces with no colours
but next i go and see the dentist they said i could have colours, i thought about fluorescent pink and green but then im really not sure! do u know any good 2 colours to have? i cant believe u had tightening 16 times! 
but then u only had them on for a year and half but i have to have it on for 2 yrs!!!!!
